UNESCO Bohr Medal Award Ceremony

Today, December 5th, at 8.45 am, at An Open World conference, the UNESCO Niels Bohr Gold Medal will be awarded to:

  • Spokesperson and Founder of Wikipedia, Jimmy Wales
  • Director of CERN, Rolf-Dieter Heuer
  • Distinguished scientist and professor, Alain Aspect

The medals will be presented by:

  • HRM Princess Marie of Denmark
  • Deputy General-Director of UNESCO, Getachew Engida
  • Danish Minister of Education, Christine Antorini


Previous recipients of the UNESCO Niels Bohr medal count among others Sir Tim Berners-Lee for his work that effectively became the foundation of the World Wide Web.
